Camellia oil (or Tsubaki oil, oil drawn from the camellia plant) has long been used as a steel conditioner and barrier to prevent rust.
Smoothing and conditioning any steel is important for all Japanese Knives but particularly when dealing with high carbon Japanese knives.
-Simlpy simply aplly a couple of drops to each side of the blade to prevent corrosion, discoloration, and rust.
